The International Securities Lending Association (ISLA) has joined the Canton Foundation as an associate member, as it seeks to support the development of a competitive and interoperable digital securities finance landscape.

Through its membership, ISLA will contribute to discussions on the practical applications of distributed ledger technology and digital infrastructure within securities lending.

The association said the move reflects its commitment to engaging with a broad range of market solutions and technologies.

As part of the collaboration, Adrian Dale, head of regulation and market practice at ISLA, will join the Canton Foundation’s Collateral Subcommittee, which is exploring how collateral can be mobilised across the network.

Chris Rayner, senior associate for market infrastructure and technology at ISLA, will participate in the Technology Working Group, focusing on digital infrastructure and network applications.

In an online statement, ISLA says: “Supporting a competitive and interoperable digital landscape is essential for the future of securities finance.

“We look forward to working with the Canton Foundation, alongside our continued engagement with other platforms across the market ensuring the interests of the securities finance industry are reflected in the development of robust digital market frameworks.”
