WTS Hansuke has appointed Northern Trust veteran Andy Smith to its Capital Markets practice in London.
In his new role, Smith will focus on supporting institutional clients and financial intermediaries across EMEA with the design and optimisation of securities lending and financing products, collateral solutions, and front‐to‐back operating models.
Smith brings more than 40 years of experience in securities lending and controls to the team, and joins from a long career at Northern Trust, where he held senior roles across securities lending product management, controls, and business management for EMEA and APAC..
Earlier in his career he held positions at J.P. Morgan, Citi, and NatWest Markets, with responsibilities spanning securities lending, tax, due diligence, and control oversight.
Roy Zimmerhansl, partner and head of Capital Markets at WTS Hansuke, states: “Andy’s appointment is an important milestone in the evolution of our capital markets business.
“Over recent years we have been deliberate about building a practice anchored by people who have run securities lending and financing businesses inside major institutions and who understand how market structure, client demands, and controls intersect in real life.”
Commenting on his appointment, Smith says: “After more than 40 years in securities lending and controls, joining WTS Hansuke is a chance to apply that experience in a focused advisory setting.
“I am particularly pleased to be working with Ali Kazimi, whose reputation for bringing tax and operational insight to securities lending is widely recognised, together with Roy and Andrew Dyson.
“Between us, we understand how lending programmes, collateral, and control
frameworks come together in practice, and I look forward to helping clients refine their securities finance and collateral businesses for the next phase of market development.”
