Repo average daily volume (ADV) traded on the Tradeweb platform increased 11.5 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to US$836.3 billion for August.

According to Tradeweb, the strong global repo ADV was supported by increased client participation across the platform YoY.

In the US, this growth was driven by a continued increase in net treasury issuance.

Additionally, balances in the Fed’s reverse repo facility (RRP) remained close to zero, with a small spike at the end of the month

In Europe, strong trading momentum continued supported by elevated collateral demand and shifting expectations surrounding major central bank policy rates.

The firm reports that ADV across all asset classes for the month of August reached US$2.8 trillion, up 13.7 per cent YoY.

US government bond ADV was up 28.9 per cent YoY to US$282.5 billion, while European government bond ADV was up 22.2 per cent YoY to US$54.1 billion.

For swaps and swaptions, ADV jumped 27.3 per cent YoY for the month to US$553 billion. Total rates derivatives ADV also increased, rising 21 per cent YoY to US$1.1 trillion.

In credit markets, fully electronic US credit ADV was up 32.5 per cent YoY to US$8.9 billion, while European credit ADV rose 10.7 per cent YoY to US$2 billion.
